This hospital expansion project encompassed 36,500 sq. ft. and was a feat of engineering and construction expertise. The expansion added vital facilities to the hospital, including an emergency department, radiology department, surgery department, hyperbaric chamber, outpatient surgery, and laboratories.
The new building was designed to function as a stand-alone structure, yet also seamlessly integrate with the existing hospital’s ED entrance. To achieve this, the project required multiple interior renovations, including the construction of a new data center within the existing facility.
One of the most impressive aspects of the project was the exterior construction of the new addition, which utilized engineered metal studs to withstand a Category III level hurricane. This demonstrates the team’s attention to detail and commitment to creating a safe, resilient facility that can withstand even the most extreme weather conditions.
The project received industry recognition for its excellence, being awarded the Best Commercial Contractors Project – Healthcare from the prestigious Lee BIA Summit Awards.
